Roads of India - From Khajuraho to Gwalior

2ème étape de mon voyage en Inde pour Nouvelles Frontières. Après 24h pour rejoindre Varanasi et une journée pleine sur place, un autre avion me permet de rejoindre Khajuraho et de commencer la route vers Gwalior et le Rajasthan.Je connaissais le programme : 12 villes en 3 semaines. Mais sur le papier un voyage n'est qu'un projet, en pratique ça donnera pour la plupart des journées 4h de route, 2h d'étape sur une ville qui vaut le détour, puis une journée dans la ville suivante. Je n'ai jamais le temps de m'arrêter, de discuter un peu ou d'échanger, je suis toujours de passage.Mon seul jeu sera de regarder par une fenêtre de la voiture, de chercher une scène ou un cadre que j'ai envie de garder, de m'arrêter un peu et de ralentir ce qui s'apparente de plus en plus à une course. Car tout va trop vite quand je m'arrête, alors que tout ralentit quand le paysage défile en roulant. C'est très étrange, et un peu frustrant.Et puis c'est chaud, littéralement. Je déteste parler du temps qu'il fait, je lui préfère le temps qui passe ou celui qui reste. Mais ces circonstances l'imposent, à 42°C on étouffe, le bitume fond et tout le monde s'abrite. Je finirai par m'y habituer, mais ces 1ers jours de route sont une grosse claque chaude et suante sur ma tête d'étranger.

Je n'ai pas vraiment pris le temps de partager mon dernier voyage en Inde, à l'exception d'une série et de ce que vous pouvez voir sur l'Instagram de Nouvelles Frontières. Puisque j'y retourne dans quelques semaines, je vais essayer de retranscrire d'ici mon départ un peu de ce que j'ai ressenti au Rajasthan.Ayant passé le plus clair de mon temps sur la route, c'était pour moi le meilleur dénominateur commun de ces photos.1ère étape, Varanasi avec ses célébrations religieuses quotidiennes sur le Gange.(cliquez sur l'une des photos pour lancer le diaporama)

Past November I was looking for a nice photo project to produce in Paris that I love so much. While brainstorming I bring back an old series of pics : The Calm before Irene. It was shot in New York just before Irene storm while New York was empty as New Yorkers were hidden in their homes.So I ask myself :When would be te best time to shoot Paris with nobody in the streets.I found that Christmas should be that night, where Paris would really be asleep, with nobody partying.December 25th, half past midnight. Just after my Christmas eve I spend 6 hours shooting in Paris. 14 km by feet, 8 km on public bikes and one Uber to get back home. I had amazing encounters, between a royalist would told me some great stories about the French revolution (not that I want a king in France, but it was fascinating) and many more that just stopped, talked for 5 minutes and encouraged the process.Here's the result. I hope you like it :)--En novembre dernier je cherchais à développer un projet photo sur Paris que j'aime tant. Je retombe sur les photos de New-York au moment de l'ouragan Irene, où la ville était vidée de ses habitants, cloitrés chez eux.Et je me demande alors :Quel serait le meilleur moment pour avoir les rues de Paris totalement vides ?Selon toute logique la nuit de Noël est celle où l'on trouve le moins de monde dans les rues, personne ne sort, la ville dort littéralement.25 Décembre 2014, 0h30. En sortant de mon réveillon je passe 6h dans Paris. 14 km à pied, 6 km en Vélib et un Uber pour rentrer. Pas mal de rencontres improbables, notamment un Royaliste qui me suivit de la place de la Concorde au pont Alexandre III en me racontant l'histoire de Paris et de la Révolution (je ne suis pas royaliste hein, mais c'était passionnant), et surtout quelques-uns qui s'arrêtent, discutent 5 minutes et m'encouragent.Le résultat le voilà :
